The new bridge across the Oka river along the M-12 highway is reliably protected from corrosion by VMP coatings

In September of 2023, at the border of the Vladimir Oblast and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast near the town of Murom, traffic was opened over the new bridge across the Oka river at the M-12 Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan highway under construction.
The length of the new bridge crossing the Oka river is 1,378 meters. It is a two-pylon cable-stayed bridge comprising 34 pairs of cable stays. Its design allowed to create a harmonious ensemble of the new crossing with the Muromsky Bridge located 500 meters away.
The builders chose products manufactured by VMP Research and Production Holding to protect steel and concrete structures of this modern bridge crossing. The total area of treated surfaces exceeded 26,000 square meters.
The outer surfaces of steel structures are protected from corrosion with a three-layer coating system ISOLEP-primer + ISOLEP-mio + POLITON-UR (UV). The inner surfaces are coated with two-layer epoxy system ISOLEP-primer + ISOLEP-mio. Primer with ISOLEP-primer corrosion inhibitor was factory-applied on the bridge structures. Application of ISOLEP-mio enamel with micaceous iron ore and POLITON-UR (UV) acrylicurethane finish enamel was carried at the construction site.
Concrete bridge structures are protected from corrosion with the three-layer coating system consisting of FERROTAN-pro polyurethane primer, POLYTON-UR polyurethane enamel, and POLYTON-UR (UV) finishing enamel. In addition, primer-enamel ALISTERUS 3105 was used, which is based on an aqueous polymer film former with the addition of functional additives, pigments and fillers.
The M-12 Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod - Kazan high-speed highway will connect the largest regional centers and agglomerations (Moscow Oblast, Vladimir Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Chuvash Republic, and Tatarstan) with the highway network in the European part of Russia. The work is due to complete in 2024. The highway will become the main part of the international transport corridor Europe - Western China. Traveling from Moscow to Kazan along the new highway will take as little as six and a half hours.
