VINICOR®-nord primer-enamel

Description

Single-packed vinyl-polyester primer-enamel.
The coating  is resistant to short-term contact with  sea and fresh water,  oil and oil products,  mineral salt solutions, detergents. 
The material can be applied directly to the metal without prior priming (including  residual consolidated rust products).
Coating can be applied at temperatures up to minus 25 ºС.

Recommended use 

Protective-decorative coating of metal structures  used in atmospheric conditions of temperate  and cold climate areas and inside industrial facilities.
The material is preferred for painting of fixed and installed structures.
Recommended to be applied as an independent coating. If required, vinyl-epoxy-, vinyl-, alkyd-based enamels may overlap the material.
Application over the previous consolidated polyvinylbutyral-, epoxy-, vinyl-epoxy-, acryl-, urethane-based layers is allowed.

Certificates, Approvals

Certificate of State registration No. RU.77.01.34.015.E.001112.05.15 dated 25.05.2015.
The operational protective and decorative properties of coatings are approved  by the testing center of the Research and Manufacturing Association "Lakokraspokrytie".

Surface preparation

• to degrease metal surface to 1 grade according to GOST 9.402;
• to remove  oxides  and old paint by abrasive blasting to  degree not less than  3  according to GOST 9.402 or not less than Sa 2 according to ISO 8501-1; in hard-to-get-at places and when painting small areas, cleaning to degree not less than St 2 according to ISO 8501-1 using power tool is possible;
• to remove dust.

Before applying the second layer, the coating must be dry, clean and free of oil and dust.

Application 

• Before application, mix the material in the shipping container to homogenous condition;
• if necessary dilute to working viscosity with a thinner P-4A (toluene or xylene).

The material  shall  be applied at a temperature from minus 25 to plus 35 °C (the recommended interval is from minus 15 to plus 25 °C) and the relative air humidity is not more than 85%. The temperature of the surface to be painted must be above the dew point by at least 3 °C, but not above plus 40 °C.
The temperature of the material prepared for application is recommended to hold at least plus 15 °C.
When painting  at temperature  below 0 °C, the surface to be painted must be free from snow, ice or frost.
It is recommended to apply 1-2 layers.
Intermediate drying between layers of  the  primer-enamel at a temperature  plus 20 °C is  at least 1 hour, at minus 25 °C – not less than 18 hours.
Drying of the coating is natural. The drying time depends on the surface temperature and ambient air, material dilution degree, coating thickness, efficiency of ventilation and relative air humidity.
The holding time of the coating before operation in  aggressive conditions is at least 3 days at temperature of plus 15 to 22 °C.

Storage and handling

The primer-enamel is packed in metal buckets.
Storage  and transportation  conditions  of the material  –  in accordance with GOST 9980.5 (at air temperature from minus 35 to plus 35  °C).  The  container  with the material  components  shall be  stored away from heat sources, protected from atmospheric condensation and direct sunlight.
The shelf life in hermetically enclosed original containers is 12 months from the manufacture date.

Precautions

When working with the primer-enamel,  one shall observe the existing sectoral  standard norms and requirements and safety measures as specified on the package label.
One shall use personal protective equipment (goggles, face masks and respirators) and avoid inhalation of solvents and contact of the  primer-enamel  with skin, eye mucosa, respiratory channels; use inside the premises is allowed only in case sufficient ventilation is provided.
The primer-enamel is classified as a fire-hazardous material.
